Halloween is next week! Are you ready? If you are not you have come to the right place! I love to dress up and I love to be unique! I went to an 80s party this past weekend so that inspired me to talk about Halloween costumes. You’ll be surprised how easy it is to put some of these costumes together. Can’t wait to see what everyone dresses up as next week!
Thank you for reading!
My favorite costume that I have ever done was Lara Croft and it was probably the easiest.
I wore black spandex shorts and a black t-shirt. My husband went to the ranger surplus store and got a couple of toy guns you can try a Halloween store or any toy store to find something like this and gun holsters like these. I also got black boots like these which I ended up wearing for a few years after!
Any 80s costume is usually easy and amazing!
I did 80’s material girl/Madonna inspired by Sarah Jessica Parker on Sex and the City. I can’t take all the credit as my amazing cousin found this idea for me. I had a complete costume disaster on the day of the party, my corset never shipped because Victoria Secret had my wrong billing address and my tutu dress got locked in my mailbox and I was still able to pull this off. I found a tutu like skirt in my closet you need something like this. I have pearls and had already gotten a black corset belt like this and lace tights so all I needed was a corset, denim vest, and something to wear in my hair. I went to Victoria’s Secret and got a corset that is not available online because it was on sale! For my denim vest I got a long sleeveless denim shirt like this from Forever 21 and cut it up. It was such a fun costume to do so I highly recommend this one!
I cannot believe its already fall! Where has the summer gone? I’m not a big fan of the fall because all I can think about is that winter is coming and winters in the mid-atlantic are brutal. The only bright side of fall is fashion week — and of course boots, jackets, scarves, comfy sweaters, cuddling by the fireplace and hot cocoa ;). So ladies, without further adieu, it’s time to put away all your sun dresses, bathing suits, and flip flops and get out your jeans, boots, and scarves! To kick-start the fall spirit, I am going to share my favorite denim looks because recently I am seeing denim everywhere! This season, there really is something for everyone. My favorite look is the high wasted flair with a crop top or tucked in blouse. I recently tried on this fabulous pair of Blank NYC jeans at SouthMoonUnder that I think I am going to have to go back and get. They are currently 20% off so don’t miss out!
#1 Rag & Bone Thrasher $295 – these are probably one of my favorite jeans that I have ever bought I just love them! If you are going to go for ripped might as well go all out!
#2 Whitefox Boutique $64.96 AUD
I don’t know how I ever survived without a pair of over the knee boots. I feel that they are a wardrobe staple, and if you don’t have a pair – well you better go out and get one. I love them in all shapes and sizes: flat for casual looks, heeled for a night out, wedges that are comfortable, and even peep toe to wear all year round!
I have an amazing pair of boots that I got from Shoe Dazzle. They are wedges so they are super comfortable and they keep me really warm in this weather. I’ve worn them a few times this season and I can’t seem to get enough!
It is actually really hard to find the right pair of boots, so as promised, here are my favorites along with an outfit I recently wore with mine.
When it’s cold outside and you can’t seem to stay inside on a Friday night, what do you do? You pull out your favorite over the knee boots, pair them with a vegan leather skirt, and top it all off with a faux fur coat to keep you warm and fabulous! At least that is what I did this past weekend. We went out for a friends birthday in 10 degree weather, and guess what, I was nice and toasty! I actually started out the night wearing tights under the skirt and then had to take them off because I was getting a little too warm.
Because I am so obsessed with over the knee boots, and because I love all of my readers so much, in my next post, I’ll be listing a range of the latest over the knee boots with links to purchase online! I personally think I’m in need of another pair, so I may join in on the spree 😉
According to Pantone, the color of 2015 is: Marsala. Lucky for me, I am already obsessed with this color and have been wearing it for a few years! It’s a wonderful, rich color, and you can work it into your wardrobe pretty easily as a statement piece or as an accessory. It is also the color of wine….just saying 😉
I’ll write a post later on dedicated to the color, but today, I want to talk about my favorite marsala pants! I got these pants at SouthMoonUnder on black Friday – yep, 20% off! So imagine my excitement when pantone announced that marsala would be the color of 2015! Not only are these pants the most amazing color, but they are super comfortable! They look like jeans, but feel like leggings, so you can dress them up or down. Definitely one of my best buys of the season so hurry up before they are all gone.
I started this post to share my Christmas eve outfit because I wore my favorite copped sweater. I then thought to myself, why don’t I dedicate this post to exactly that: my cropped sweater obsession? The cropped sweater is a must have for every wardrobe this season. You can style it with a high waisted skirt, high waisted pant, or over a loose blouse with leggings or a skirt. It’s a great piece to dress up or down and keep you cozy all winter long. I love bulky sweaters as well, but feel that the cropped sweater is more flattering and gives you a more polished look. Here are a few of my favorite cropped sweater looks followed by some sweater picks. The first looks is one that I wore on Christmas eve which I also wore at work. As you can see, you can wear it with boots or pumps. Yes ladies, occasionally I do wear outfits more than once, how un-fashionista of me, but if I love something, I definitely wear it again.
